Superintendent's Statement Regarding Bomb Threat 3-1-2018

Thursday afternoon at approximately 3:05 p.m. a phone call was received at the Woodville ISD administration office claiming there was a bomb. Woodville Police Department and Tyler County Sheriff's Office were notified and responded to the call within minutes.  Afternoon dismissal of students had started and was allowed to continue as law enforcement began investigating the call and checking buildings where the call was received. Shortly after the students were cleared from all campuses it was determined by officials the call was a hoax.  As a precaution, staff members were dismissed and evening activities on campuses were postponed. The district and law enforcement will continue to investigate the incident and attempt to determine who is responsible.

Thursday's incident comes on the heels of the Florida school shooting tragedy. Many schools in our region and around the country are receiving rumors of copycat and hoax events. Our district will take every report seriously and will be investigating each incident using every resource available. Law enforcement will be involved throughout the process and work directly with the District. Woodville ISD wants to ensure our school community we will be taking every precaution to keep our students and staff safe.

We encourage parents to have open communication with their children about issues at school, social media and other concerns.  We encourage you as parents to share those concerns with campus personnel. We also ask parents to make certain their students understand that even joking about school violence will lead to serious consequences.  When campus and/or district leaders become aware of such conversations, it will immediately and thoroughly be investigated as a threat.

Our Vision...

Every Child, Every Classroom, Everyday!

Woodville Intermediate School recognizes that each student is uniquely different in physical growth, intellectual progress, social maturity, readiness to learn, ability to achieve, and other human attributes.
The philosophy of our school shall be to provide a learning environment that will encourage each student to become a creative, responsible, patriotic, and contributing member of society.
Students shall be provided with learning experiences, counseling, and guidance that will develop and enhance their social emotional, physical and intellectual growth.
